Effect of integrated sustainable land management technologies on households’ food security in the North Gojjam sub-basin, Blue Nile River

Abstract Integrated Sustainable Land Management (ISLM) is progressively viewed as a key strategy to boost food security in Ethiopia and feed its growing population. By understanding this logical ground, paper examines the effect of ISLM technologies adoption on household security. The study relies cross-sectional household-level data collected from 414 randomly selected heads across three districts analyze issue. An Endogenous Switching Regression (ESR) model coupled with Full Information Maximum Likelihood (FIML) technique was applied required data. finding shows that has significantly increased It specifically increases consumption expenditure households by ETB (national currency Ethiopia; August 2021, 1 equal approximately USD $0.02) 38.3 (27%) when compared do not adopt groups. Similarly, it adopter households’ dietary diversity 14.5%. Furthermore, plays significant role reducing gap period one half months per year insecurity access scale 46% points north Gojjam sub-basin for those who adopted versus did adopt. policy implication can improve rural may be used means poverty. As result, should have been promoted area elsewhere inspiring land users accessing external agricultural inputs at right time place increase small-scale productivity.
